Although the Drifter’s enjoyed a successful musical career, “Save The Last Dance For Me”, was to be the group’s only #1 release. It was said that the song was written on the day of Doc Pomus’ wedding while he watched his bride dancing with their guests. Pomus had polio and needed assistance to get around.
