What is Ovulation? ​Ovulation is the process where a mature egg is released from one of the ovaries. This egg then travels down the fallopian tube, where it is available to be fertilized by sperm. In an average 28-day cycle, it usually takes place about 14 days before the start of the next menstrual period. However, cycl
