Roger II of Sicily was not born in the north, but his blood carried it. His ancestors were Norman adventurers — themselves descended from Vikings who had settled in northern France in the 10th century. From there, they moved south as mercenaries, then conquerors. Southern Italy and Sicily were divided among Byzantines, Lombards, and Muslim rulers. The Normans saw opportunity. By the time Roger inherited power in the early 12th century, the Norman presence in Sicily was established but unstable.

Scopper Gaban was at God Valley, has been to Laugh Tale and seen the One Piece, and now he’s personally battled the King of the World carrying on Gol D Roger’s will, fighting Imu in the flesh on Elbaf. Only Oda can add a character this late in the story and they already have so much lore and depth. GODA #onepiece #gaban #zoro
