When @karibarbatattoo began tattooing in 1979, the industry looked very different—especially for women. Tattoo shops were overwhelmingly male-dominated, often filled with bikers, tough personalities, and alpha energy. Very few women were welcomed behind the machines, and some made sure it stayed that way. Breaking into tattooing as a woman during that era took grit, resilience, and an unshakable love for the craft. That history—and so many others like it—is exactly why we created THE VAULT 🗝️.
