The hub method is mostly used by "cast lighting" installers. It is a simple method, but if you understand voltage drop and how to use it to your advantage, you can deversify your installations.

Reconnect the lighting wire to the terminals. Remount the transformer, and plug in the unit to the outlet. Everything works great again.

I have seen a few commercial jobs that are close to this practice, but probably 1 out of 50 residential jobs that are. Im not saying that this makes it ok, im just saying.
