McALLEN, Texas (AP) — A heavily armed man opened fire on federal agents with an assault rifle Monday morning at a U.S. Border Patrol facility in Texas, injuring a police officer before authorities shot and killed him.

As Border Patrol agents and federal immigration officers continue to be targeted for violence, two targeted attacks occurred in Texas within a few days, resulting in local police officers being shot.

The shooter was killed by law enforcement personnel who confronted him outside the Border Patrol facility in McAllen, Texas, after a report of shots being fired.
