The 49ers have closed their preseason with a win over the intra-state rival Chargers. Quarterbacks Tanner Mordecai and Carter Bradley each threw for one touchdown, while Jeff Wilson Jr. added one on the ground. With the score tied 16-16 late in the fourth quarter, Curtis Robinson's 32-yard pick six gave San Francisco a lead it wouldn't relinquish.

Chosen may have been a lock by default due to the injuries around. Brandon Aiyuk, Demarcus Robinson, and Jacob Cowing will all be out for week one, opening multiple roster spots. Still, Chosen did have competition to step into the role, and he was the best option.
