The Trump administration has been planning for weeks to send the National Guard to Chicago, two officials told CNN, as President Donald Trump looks to expand his anti-crime agenda and crackdown on immigration in major cities across the United States.

Mayor Brandon Johnson told MSNBC on Sunday morning that "people will rise up against tyranny" if President Trump moves forward with his plan to send the national guard to police the streets of Chicago the way they're doing in Washington D.

Both Mayor Brandon Johnson and Gov. JB Pritzker have said any effort by the president to send the National Guard to Chicago to fight crime would be illegal.
