New York Giants co-owner John Mara took quite a bit of heat this week after announcing that he was retaining both general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll after a second consecutive miserable season.

The Giants are going to be terrible until they find a legit quarterback solution. Pretty much everyone can agree on that. So there are a couple problems with what co-owner John Mara did — and said — on Monday.

John Mara, however, retained both Daboll and GM Joe Schoen but issued directives that an improvement must take place immediately. Daboll is now entertaining a step back into a CEO coaching role, though the fourth-year Giants HC did not confirm if the idea of another shift was his or Mara’s.
