Qualifying for the 2025 Indianapolis 500 got underway on Saturday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Alex Palou posted the fastest time in qualifying with a speed of 233.043 mph, narrowly edging out Scott McLaughlin (233.013 mph) and Josef Newgarden (233.004 mph).

Kyle Larson, the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion, qualified 21st for the 2025 Indianapolis 500, guaranteeing his attempt of the "Double."

Colton Herta rebounded from a crash early in Indianapolis 500 qualifying on Saturday to safely make the field with a backup car quickly built up by Andretti Autosport.

Herta is the second driver to go airborne at Indy in the last two days, as Kyffin Simpson flipped over on the exit of Turn 4 after a left side impact with the wall similar to Herta's on Friday. NASCAR champion Kyle Larson, attempting his second Indy 500, also crashed Friday in preparation for this weekend's run for the pole.

The 25-year-old Andretti Global driver spun in Turn 1, and the rear struck the outside wall as the car briefly became airborne.
