Two Houston warming centers to remain open overnight as eight close following winter storm

The city of Houston on Thursday closed eight of the warming centers officials had opened for people seeking shelter from the historic Houston freeze and snow this week. Forecasts show temperatures trending upward through Friday and a return to 60-degree weather this weekend.

As the city starts to warm up after three days of below-freezing temperatures, several warming centers in Houston will begin to close on Thursday.

Southeast Texas is waking up to below and near freezing temperatures. Any leftover moisture will refreeze overnight, so be careful while driving on bridges and overpasses. Highs this afternoon will rise to the low-50s with lots of sunshine.
