All signs were pointing toward Stefon Diggs playing in Week 1 throughout the summer, until the receiver poured some cold water on his comebacker a few weeks ago. But Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel has seemingly ended any speculation over Diggs' Week 1 status with the regular season less than two weeks away.

This comes after New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel was asked about Diggs’ status and what the expectations are for Week 1 against the Las Vegas Raiders. “That he’s ready to go, and that he helps our offense, and that he helps Drake (Maye),” Vrabel said.

DaRon Bland, who had a record five interception returns for touchdowns two years ago, is the only other established starter at cornerback. Kaiir Elam, acquired from Buffalo in the offseason, is the other starter on the unofficial depth chart.

Dallas' star corner could return to action sooner rather than later. Diggs had offseason knee surgery but is expected to play in September.
