A woman was rushed to the hospital after a vehicle crashed into a building in northeast D.C. Thursday morning, according to D.C. Fire and EMS.

WASHINGTON — A woman is seriously injured after driving into a building in Northeast D.C., setting it on fire Thursday morning. D.C. Fire and EMS responded to the scene on the 2000 block of Bunker Hill Road NE, where officials say the vehicle got stuck into the structure, trapping the driver inside.

Firefighters rescued a woman trapped inside the vehicle that was still lodged in the burning building. The woman was transported to a hospital with serious injuries. Officials say the front of the building collapsed. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
