Across the United States, scientists organized similar protests Friday under a single call to arms: “Stand Up for Science.”

Hundreds gathered at the Oregon State Capitol on Friday as part of a nationwide "Stand Up for Science" rally advocating for federal support of research and scientists. Scientists, students, advocates and community members held signs and led chants protesting recent mass layoffs and funding cuts at the direction of the Trump administration.

Hundreds rallied at the California Capitol on March 7, 2025, to protest the Trump's administration's moves to eliminate science positions in the federal government. The Stand Up for Science rally was part of a series of nationwide protests.
