A report of an active shooter at USC’s Thomas Cooper Library prompted evacuations before officials gave the all-clear.
Law enforcement said there was no evidence of an active shooter at the USC library in Columbia. Some students were treated for minor injuries.
On Aug. 24, there were two calls made to USCPD about an active shooter at Thomas Cooper Library, which were later proven to be false. Some students shared their experiences of the event, describing large crowds running across campus.
"You're really powerless. It definitely felt powerless to be sitting there, barricaded and you have no idea where your friends are and you have no idea what's going on," says student Tarun Ramkumar.

A Carolina Alert gave an "ALL CLEAR" message, following reports of an active shooter at Thomas Cooper Library on Sunday afternoon. There is no ongoing emergency, but the library remains closed, according to the alert.
