America’s Ryder Cup players look set to be paid for the first time in a break from a near 100-year tradition with Team USA in line to receive almost £4 million collectively for next year’s showdown in New York.

Historically, players have never been paid to represent their respective teams whilst competing at the Ryder Cup, but this set to change for US players heading to Bethpage Black

For the first time in the near 100-year history of the Ryder Cup, members of the U.S. team will be compensated for playing.

As Golfweek reported last month, players on the United States Ryder Cup team are set to be paid for next year’s biennial bash at Bethpage Black in New York. The Telegraph in London reported Wednesday the Americans will be paid roughly $400,
