The first artwork done by a humanoid robot, famously known as Ai-Da, has been sold in auction for over $1 million.

The portrait depicts the mathematician Alan Turing as the god of artificial intelligence. Its creator is a robot that resembles a woman with a bob haircut.

A portrait of English mathematician Alan Turing became the first artwork by a humanoid robot to be sold at auction, fetching more than $1.0 million on Thursday.

Sotheby’s recently held an auction for the first artwork made by a humanoid robot. And while the company was expecting the sale to fall between $120,000 and $180,000, the piece ultimately went for over $1 million, after a fierce round that saw 27 bids.

Former gallerist Aidan Meller worked with a team of almost 30 people to build the robot, which is named Ai-Da, after Ada Lovelace.
