Weekend storm update: Isolated tornado added to part of Michigan forecast, heavy rain too
Here's an overall rundown of the storm system that will come together right over the top of Michigan tonight into Sunday.
After a week of airmass whiplash, thanks to a push and pull of fronts across southeast Texas, a bigger and more consequential system is set to roll through the lower 48. The trough of low pressure currently situated over the Pacific Ocean will move across the southwestern U.S. and eventually into Texas between Thursday and Saturday.
A strong cold front is approaching Indiana. We'll go from 80s on Saturday down to 50s by Sunday. As it swings through, expect weekend rain and storms at times.
In Orange and San Bernardino counties, a flash flood watch will continue through Tuesday afternoon for the Bridge, Line, Apple, El Dorado and Airport burn scars. Hillsides stripped of vegetation by wildfires can make soil repel water, which can lead to increased runoff and flooding.
Will it rain today? Atlantic hurricane season is June 1 to Nov. 30, 2025, with most tropical storm activity between August and October in Florida.
Sunday afternoon storms are slowly moving towards the east from the I-10 and I-75 corridor. Storms are expected for Southeast Georgia and Northeast Florida through sunset. Though rain accumulation is expected to be less than a quarter of an inch, it will still be disruptive to outdoor evening plans.
Much of the St. Louis region will see much-needed rain this weekend, but with that also brings the possibility of gusty winds and small hail.
First Alert Weather Days continue through Sunday as a potent storm system brings rain and a few storms overnight into Sunday, along with very gusty winds.
