Michigan residents may want to plan their beach day on Sunday, July 20, as heavy rain, thunderstorms are predicted to develop on Saturday, July 19.

Much of the lower peninsula faces a slight (2/5) risk of severe storms Saturday. All modes of severe weather are possible.

Storms are likely to move into Central Lower Michigan during the morning (largely below severe levels). These storms will intensify south of the Muskegon to Howard City to Mount Pleasant line in the midday hours. Currently, the highest potential for severe weather will be south of that line in the afternoon and evening.

Highs could reach the lower 80s today, but also because of the clouds, there is a chance upper 70s could be more realistic for highs today. The wind will be southwesterly at 5 to 10 mph, gusting to 20 mph. The normal high for July 19th is 82 degrees.

Here's a breakdown of the weekend forecast for Calhoun County. Friday is forecast to have a high of 78 degrees with a low of 64 degrees and increasing clouds at night. Expect the daytime temperature to feel seven degrees hotter at 85 degrees. Throughout the day, wind will be blowing southeast at 4.6 miles per hour.
