Yordan Alvarez was set to play left field Friday night in Corpus Christi, his first time in the field since being injured in May.

Houston Astros star slugger Yordan Alvarez will continue his rehab assignment at Double-A Corpus Christi on Sunday as the designated hitter, according to The Athletic's Chandler Rome. Alvarez began his rehab assignment on Tuesday and has played in three games for the Hooks.

Craig Kimbrel could see leverage opportunities soon with the Astros, who are without Josh Hader and Bennett Soussa due to injuries.

The nine-time All-Star closer is preparing to play for his ninth team. "It's a tremendous ballclub with a lot of talent," Kimbrel said.
