During Wednesday’s SEC teleconference, head coach Billy Napier explained that Lagway’s attention to detail helps put him in a position to succeed.

The Gators (4-4, 2-3 Southeastern Conference) have made significant strides since lopsided losses to Miami and Texas A&M during the first month of the season. Napier shored up the team’s shaky defense, found a potential star in freshman quarterback DJ Lagway and developed young talent on both sides of the ball.

That set off the message board rumor mill that the word "changes" means the end of Napier as both head coach and play-caller for the Florida Gators in 2025. It could happen. But I would also respond with a quote from the esteemed Spanish philosopher George Santayana, "those that ignore history are doomed to repeat it."
