Four overflow cold weather shelters are open across Denver and the city will keep them open through at least 11 a.m. Tuesday, according to Denver’s Department of Housing Stability.

Colorado is getting ready to drop into a dangerous multi-day deep freeze! A surge from the Polar Vortex will be pushing below zero temperatures across the region with several burst of snow beginning Friday night.

"Most of the things we have on display are from tropical areas and like warm, humid conditions,” Denver Botanic Gardens' Curator of Tropical Collections Nick Snakenberg said. The next few days are going to be so cold that the Denver Botanic Gardens is shutting down.
