Ray Tanner will be stepping down as South Carolina athletic director, the school’s board of trustees announced Friday. “I’m reluctant to accept his change as athletic director,” USC President Michael Amiridis said of the change.

Tanner, 66, said Friday he was stepping down after the current semester, ending a 12-year run for one of the longest-tenured ADs currently in the Southeastern Conference.
