Gov. Kathy Hochul says New York is hitting the pause button on a rapidly growing industry tied to artificial intelligence.
New York became the first state to ban construction of 'hyperscale' AI data centers, for one year, after Gov. Kathy Hochul signed an executive order Tuesday.
"Before it goes any further, I need safeguards in place to protect New Yorkers," said New York Gov. Kathy Hochul.
Previously, she was a writer and editor at MUO. Some of the antiquated laws mentioned by Hochul in the interview include a $25 fee required to take a dog hunting, or a stipulation that pregnant people need a permit to work after midnight.
