Major League Baseball announced today that Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh has been selected as the starting catcher for the American League All-Star team. The 95th MLB All-Star Game is set to be played on Tuesday,

In addition to his All-Star Game selection, Raleigh will be participating in the Home Run Derby, which is the Monday before the All-Star Game. He'll look to become the second Mariners player to win the Derby, following Ken Griffey Jr., who won it three times.

The Seattle Mariners slugger was named to his first All-Star team as the AL’s starting catcher Wednesday. Raleigh garnered 72% of the votes from Phase 2 of All-Star balloting, which featured the top two vote-getters at each infield position during Phase 1 squaring off for the starting roles in their respective leagues.
