Empire Offshore Wind, a subsidiary of Equinor, has been notified by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) of the US Department of the Interior that the stop-work order for its Empire Wind project has been lifted.

Gov. Kathy Hochul, in a separate statement, confirmed the move, and thanked President Donald Trump for allowing the $7 billion-plus project to resume construction. The stop-work order had been issued April 16, just as offshore work was set to begin about 14 miles off Long Beach.

The Trump administration is allowing work on a major offshore wind project for New York to resume. The developer, the Norwegian energy company Equinor, said Monday it was told the stop-work order has been lifted for the Empire Wind project.
