President Donald Trump’s administration is taking management of Union Station away from Amtrak in the latest example of the federal government exerting its power over the nation’s capital.

The Transportation Department will take over Union Station in Washington in an effort to “drive out” homelessness and crime, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said Wednesday.

But it was not clear how much the long-overdue overhaul would cost or who would pay for it.
