The tail rotor gearbox had separated from the tail boom and was found 30 feet to the southeast of the main wreckage. Manual rotation of the tail rotor blades resulted in rotation of the gearbox input.

Investigators found all the helicopter's major components near the crash site. One of the two main blades had separated from the rotor and was found 20 feet away from the rest of the wreckage.
