Taiwan’s China Airlines placed a firm order for five additional Airbus ( EADSF) ( EADSY) A350-1000 widebody aircraft, expanding its commitment to the long-haul jet as it upgrades its international fleet, the European plane maker said Thursday.
Airbus SE landed orders for dozens of aircraft from two Chinese carriers as the European planemaker grows its market share in Asia’s biggest economy.
China’s Spring Airlines and Juneyao Airlines plan to buy 55 Airbus A320-family jets worth more than $8 billion, with deliveries scheduled from 2028 to 2032.
Expanding international routes has also allowed Chinese airlines to seize market share from foreign carriers. Domestic carriers’ share of the market climbed to 69.5 percent in 2025 from 58.9 percent in 2019, while foreign airlines’ share has shrunk to 30.5 percent, according to Feekr.
