The Handley Page Victor XH648 was futuristic when it was designed in the 1950s. Its cockpit was initially designed as an 'escape pod' which could detach from the rest of the plane when needed.
The Handley Page Victor is the only surviving aircraft of its type, having taken its first flight in 1959.
