The creative team behind Halo: Campaign Evolved has declined to reply to recent questions about the use of generative AI. This has led to a lot of suspicion from the gaming community.
"It's really a new era—Halo is on PlayStation going forward," Halo Studios community director Brian Jarrard said on a livestream today. This isn't just a one-off for the series: it's the final bit of proof that even the most precious jewels in Microsoft's crown will be available anywhere and everywhere in the future.
“Halo” is finally coming to PlayStation consoles in 2026 with a “modernized remake.”
Halo: Campaign Evolved is a faithful yet modernized remake of Halo: Combat Evolved’s campaign, rebuilt from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5.
While there is no multiplayer in the new Halo: Campaign Evolved, the game delivers some extras that weren't in the original 2001 release, including three new prequel missions and the ability to sprint. The game was made in Unreal Engine 5 and is likely to be followed by a brand-new Halo live-service game.
Halo is looking for a fresh start, and today’s 2025 Halo Project Update livestream could give it just that.
