Blue Origin could try again to send up its New Glenn rocket for the first time with an overnight launch early Thursday, but the weather forecast could pose problems. The heavy-lift rocket for Jeff Bezos’ company is trying to become a competitor for SpaceX and United Launch Alliance.

The company, started by the Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, reset its countdown clock repeatedly over a period of just over two hours before eventually postponing the test flight to another day.

CAPE CANAVERAL—Nearly a decade after launching its first suborbital New Shepard vehicle, Blue Origin on Jan. 13 attempted orbital flight with the partly reusable New Glenn heavy-lift rocket. An undisclosed vehicle subsystem issue, however, prompted the company to scrub the launch shortly after 3 a.m. EST.
