On Aug. 24, 1973, a 21-year-old John Adams went to the old Cleveland Stadium with his big drum.

The Guardians wore a special patch on their jerseys on opening day and on Thursday, the 50th anniversary of the first game Adams brought his drum to the bleachers at Municipal Stadium.
