After devastating flood waters rushed through parts of the Hill Country in Texas, local and state leaders offered statements of sympathy and provided information on how the state was responding.

The death toll from sudden floods in the Texas Hill Country rose to 24 Friday night, officials said, as the search for more than 20 people missing from a girls summer camp continued through the night.

Authorities stressed that the situation was still developing and that the death toll could change, with rescue operations ongoing.
