Several severe weather alerts have taken effect as a strong winter storm system moves through Hawaii. The HNN First Alert Weather Team earlier declared a First Alert Weather Day statewide through Friday morning.

Hawaii is under severe weather warnings, including high winds, thunderstorms, and flash floods, as a storm approaches.

A powerful storm that will bring heavy rain, gusty winds and flash flooding is set to hit the Hawaiian Islands Wednesday evening.

Severe weather is possible during the end of this work week. Several warnings and watches are currently posted across the island chain.

As a cold front will cover the islands, stormy weather that are anticipated include windy conditions and plenty of showers in areas across the state.
