Seattle was ranked as the second-most popular domestic travel destination for the Fourth of July holiday this year, according to AAA. KIRO 7 asked visitors at Pike Place Market what brought them to Seattle. “We love to do hiking,” said Muhammad Eiman, who drove to meet friends from San Francisco. “We are also planning to go to Mount Baker.”

Seattle was ranked as the second-best Fourth of July travel destination in a new list created by AAA based on its travel booking data. AAA projected that 72.2 million travelers will journey 50 miles or more from home during the Independence Day holiday travel period from June 28 to July 6.

In Seattle, the marquee event is Seafair’s all-day Fourth of July festival at Lake Union, where crowds will pack both Gas Works Park and Lake Union Park.
