Flight EY461, heading to Abu Dhabi, was just moments from departing Melbourne Airport on Sunday night when the incident occurred.

An Etihad flight from Melbourne to Abu Dhabi aborted takeoff after two tyres burst. Emergency services applied foam for safety and evacuated 289 passengers. The incident caused delays at the airport as repairs were made and only one runway remained operational.

The airline verified that all passengers had been safely evacuated and led to the terminal. The runway closure caused additional delays for other planes at the airport.
