Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has moved to launch something of a defence of summer signing Marcus Rashford.This comes after the Englishman endured an altogether trying first-ever competitive start

Marcus Rashford scored in his first appearance for Manchester United, his first Premier League start as well, and on his England debut. Similarly, he registered an assist in his first league appearance for Aston Villa while on loan there last season.

Trailing 2–0 at halftime, Flick made two substitutions. Marc Casadó was replaced by Gavi in a like-for-like switch at the base of midfield while Rashford made way for Dani Olmo. The Spanish playmaker trotted into a central attacking midfield role which allowed Raphinha to be restored to the left wing position which he enjoyed so much last season.
