New York City health officials are investigating cases of Legionnaires' disease at an apartment building in the Bronx.

Health officials have confirmed 112 cases of Legionnaires’ disease and six deaths in Central Harlem, following an outbreak that began in late July 2025. Investigations by the Health Department identified Legionella bacteria in 12 cooling towers across 10 buildings,

About one in 10 people who get sick from Legionnaires' disease die from the disease due to complications from illness, CDC said.
