Historically, Disney keeps its movies in theaters for around 90 days before transitioning them to its streaming service. If "Mufasa: The Lion King" follows this trend, fans can expect to start streaming the movie as early as mid-March 2025.

Barry Jenkins is too good a director to disappear altogether inside the creative limitations of “Mufasa: The Lion King.” This hectic Disney musical prequel origin story will do the job for families looking to avoid a second or third viewing of “Moana 2” or “Wicked” this month.

If that's the case for Mufasa: The Lion King, it should be available to buy digitally from mid-to-late February 2025. You won't be able to rent it initially, but should be able to from the time it arrives on Disney+. While we wait for its streaming and digital release, Mufasa: The Lion King is only available to watch in cinemas.
