Nowaske made plays from the SAM and MIKE roles, and was arguably the team’s best defender against the Texans. In base sets, Nowaske played the SAM with the first and second teams, but when the Lions went into second-team nickel sets, he shifted to MIKE and showed off his range to run the field.

Outside of Aidan Hutchinson, the Lions don't have anyone they cany rely on to consistently get to opposing quarterbacks, and considering they play in an NFC that contains a bunch of explosive offenses, this could be a major problem.
