A nor'easter is expected to batter the U.S. east coast over the Columbus Day weekend, bringing flooding, gusty winds and coastal erosion.
There are 12 states that recognize the day as a paid holiday in its own right, according to Pew Research Center, which include Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Georgia, West Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, and Connecticut.
It's a comfortable start to Monday morning with low to mid-70s across South Florida. This Columbus Day, South Floridians can expect lower humidity, plenty of sunshine, and warm highs in the mid-to-upper 80s. Although the chance of rain is low, a few isolated showers will be possible.
