William Pulte, FHFA director and chairman of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, released a statement Wednesday accusing Powell of providing deceptive testimony to Congress and suggesting there may be grounds for his removal.

This comes shortly after FHFA Director Bill Pulte called for Congress to investigate Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell for "deceptive" testimony.

After continuous calls for Federal Reserve Board Chairman Jerome Powell to resign over the past week — at times asking, at times demanding — Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) Director William J. Pulte has called for an investigation into the Fed leader.
